Dental hygiene – our approach to gum disease
Gum disease (periodontal disease) is relatively common occurring in 10-15% of adults. However, in the wider public, it is often not diagnosed until the more advanced stages.
As the gums are the foundation of your teeth it is critical that they remain healthy; it is a sad fact that more teeth are lost to gum disease than dental decay. It is also essential that the gums are in the best health possible before any more advanced restorative dentistry can be carried out.
Our dental plan is ideally suited and supports our preventive ethos. Either your dentist, therapist or hygienist screen you gums for any signs of deterioration at every oral health visit. That means, if necessary, we can catch problems early to support a return to health. We offer these dental hygiene appointments as part of your membership. This is one way we help you to keep your teeth and gums clean and healthy.
